Ideal location
Full sun is essential for best flowering and plant health. Hedysarum boreale evolved on exposed, open slopes where it receives many hours of direct sunlight daily. In British gardens and those of the Netherlands or Belgium, a south or west-facing position is ideal. East-facing sites work if the plant receives at least six hours of sun per day.
The plant tolerates heat very well, making it an excellent choice for hot, dry corners that defeat other perennials.
