Overview

Linum trigynum, also known as slender yellow flax or French flax, is a charming herb that produces delicate yellow flowers. This summer bloomer from the Linaceae family thrives in warm, sunny gardens throughout Europe. The plant originally comes from the Mediterranean region and extends to parts of Africa.

The plant is relatively long-lived but often behaves as an annual or biennial in temperate climates. The yellow flowers are a striking addition to summer gardens and attract many pollinators.

Appearance and bloom

Soil

This flax is not particular about soil as long as it is well-draining. Sandy to loamy soils are ideal. Heavy clay material should be improved by adding sand and gravel.
