Crocosmia 'Lucifer'
Montbretia 'Lucifer' is a spectacular bulb with fiery red, funnel-shaped flowers on gracefully arching stems. Blooming occurs in July and August above sword-shaped green foliage. The vivid red colour makes this cultivar one of the most striking summer bloomers in the border.
Plant the corms in spring at about 10 cm depth in full sun in moist, well-drained soil. Water regularly during the growing season but avoid waterlogging. Mulch in autumn to protect the corms from severe frost. In colder regions, lift the corms for winter storage.
Cut spent flower stems at the base. Leave the foliage until it dies back naturally in autumn so the corms can store energy. Divide overcrowded clumps in spring to improve flowering.
Kniphofia uvaria

The African Lily produces spectacular globe-shaped flower heads in blue or white on sturdy, tall stems above strap-like foliage. It blooms from June to August and lends a Mediterranean feel to any patio or container planting. In mild climates the plant is evergreen.
Miscanthus sinensis
Chinese Silver Grass is a striking ornamental grass that adds structure to any garden with its tall plumes and gracefully arching leaves. Silvery-white plumes appear from August to October and catch the autumn and winter light beautifully. The dried grass remains attractive throughout winter.
