Plant in sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. Once established, the plant is remarkably drought-tolerant. Apply a light layer of compost in spring. Cut back spent foliage after the first flush to encourage a second wave of flowers.
Shear back the spent foliage in midsummer to stimulate fresh growth and a new flush of blooms. The foliage dies back naturally in autumn; tidy it up in early spring.
