Overview

Dimocarpus longan, commonly known as longan or dragon's eye, is a tropical fruit tree from East Himalaya through South China. This tree produces delicious, sweet fruits that resemble lychee but with a unique, pleasant flavor. Longan is popular in Asian gardens and increasingly common worldwide.

The name "dragon's eye" refers to the small black seed surrounded by white, juicy flesh - it truly resembles a tiny dragon's eye. The tree is also remarkably productive, with mature trees yielding hundreds of fruits per season.

Appearance and Bloom
